Opening ceremony of Aerospace Museum, handover ceremony of world’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin Bronze Statue held at Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University

THE opening ceremony of the Aerospace Museum and the handover ceremony of the world’s first cosmonaut YuriGagarin statue were held at Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University in Meiktila Township of Mandalay Region yesterday.

The ceremonies were held to receive the bronze statue of the world’s first cosmonaut YuriGagarin donated by the Russian Federation, to promote the existing Myanmar-Russia relationship and create a site for the young students to study the history of aerospace and educational development of Myanmar Aerospace Engineering University.

Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr Myo Thein Kyaw attended the events together with Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, governmental officials, Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Dr Nikolay Listopadov, the rector, faculty members and students of the university.

During the opening ceremony of the Aerospace Museum, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung, Security and Border Affairs Minister Colonel Kyaw Kyaw Min and Permanent Secretary Dr Sai Kyaw Naing Oo of the Ministry of Science and Technology cut the ceremonial ribbon to launch the event.

Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Kyaw made an opening speech and Russian Ambassador Dr Nikolay Listopadov remarked during the handover ceremony of the world’s first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin statue.

Then, the Union Minister and Russian ambassador pressed the electric button for the statue, observed the museum and had a documentary photo taken together with officials. — MNA/KTZH
